2006–2013 · 8P · hatchback

US A3 8P came as a Sportback (5-door hatch) only. 2.0T FSI (BPY engine) early, switched to TSI (CCTA) after 2009 LCI. 3.2L VR6 quattro early in the run (rare and prized now). TDI diesel 2010-2013. 6-speed manual or DSG dual-clutch. Shares MQB / PQ35 platform with VW Golf Mk5/Mk6.

Watch out: 2.0T BPY FSI: carbon buildup on intake valves, HPFP failures, ignition coils, diverter valves — the canonical Mk5 GTI maintenance list. CCTA TSI improved on most of those but added timing chain tensioner concerns. DSG mechatronic fluid changes are non-optional.
