Acura NSX 1st Generation (NA1/NA2)

19912005 · NA1/NA2 · coupe

The first-generation NSX, sold in the US for 1991 through 2005, was Honda's everyday supercar and the world's first production car with an all-aluminum semi-monocoque body. It used a mid-mounted VTEC V6, a 3.0L unit (C30A) at launch making about 270 hp, growing to a 3.2L (C32B) with a 6-speed manual on later cars. Ayrton Senna gave development input on chassis rigidity, and the car was famous for pairing exotic performance with Honda reliability and usability. A 4-speed SportShift automatic was offered alongside the manual, and a 2002 facelift swapped the pop-up headlights for fixed units.

Watch out: Values are now firmly in collector territory, so the priority is verifying originality, service history, and any accident or paint repair, since aluminum-body repair is specialized and expensive. Mechanically these are robust, but the timing belt and water pump service is critical and labor-intensive on the mid-mounted V6, and snap-ring transmission issues affected some early manual cars, so confirm both before buying.
