CarCareTruth's Analysis
Last reviewed May 26, 2026
TL;DR A 2-ton aluminum racing jack from OTC (Bosch Automotive Service Solutions) with a dual-piston rapid-rise pump and a 3.5-inch minimum height that fits low-clearance sports cars without pre-ramps; 4.2★ across 129 verified reviews. The 2-ton capacity is self-reported — no third-party certification (ASME PASE, SAE J2495) is documented.
What it is and how it performs
A 2-ton-rated aluminum racing jack from OTC, a Bosch Automotive Service Solutions professional brand. Aircraft-grade aluminum primary frame; steel internal cylinder and pump; 43 lbs. The 2-ton rating is self-reported; no ASME PASE or equivalent certification is documented in the Amazon listing, the OTC manufacturer site, or the Rainforest spec table. Dual-piston rapid-rise pump; manufacturer states 5 strokes to the maximum 18-inch height. Minimum height 3.5 inches fits low-clearance sports cars without pre-ramps; maximum 18 inches covers standard passenger cars and most crossovers but is below full-size truck and SUV frame-rail reach. Round saddle with a removable rubber pad; two-piece 45-inch side-mount handle.
Who should buy this — and who should skip it
Right pick for home mechanics and hobbyist track-day owners working on standard-height passenger cars and low-clearance sports cars who want an aluminum racing jack with a rapid-rise pump and a 3.5-inch minimum height. Skip if you need full-size truck or full-size SUV frame-rail reach; the 18-inch maximum height is below the 20-inch threshold typical of that use case.
Safety and environmental impact
Sealed mechanical tool — no chemical exposure in normal use; hydraulic fluid is internal. Health score: 9.5 / Minimal Risk. The 2-ton capacity is self-reported with no third-party certification documented; 129 community reviews show a 4.2★ aggregate with no documented load-capacity failure pattern. One detailed long-term review reports loss of hold-pressure after roughly one year of ownership, and one detailed review reports warranty-service difficulty — these are individual accounts rather than a category-defining failure pattern. Aluminum frame is recyclable at end of life; OTC's professional distributor channel supports seal-kit and pump-component replacement. A California Proposition 65 warning is present on the listing; no SDS exists for this tool and the specific trigger chemical cannot be confirmed.
Frequently asked questions
Is the OTC 1532A ASME certified?▾
No named third-party certification (ASME PASE, SAE J2495, ANSI) is documented in the Amazon listing, the OTC manufacturer site, or the Rainforest spec table as of 2026-05-22. The 2-ton capacity is self-reported. OTC is a Bosch Automotive Service Solutions professional brand, but brand pedigree is not a substitute for a named test body.
Will the 1532A fit under a low-clearance sports car?▾
The manufacturer states a minimum height of 3.5 inches and positions the jack as 'perfect for ground hugging high performance cars.' Vehicles with ground clearance below 3.5 inches will still require ramp assistance before positioning the jack.
Why is the OTC 1532A currently out of stock on Amazon?▾
As of 2026-05-22 the Amazon listing shows 'Temporarily out of stock.' The product has 129 verified-purchase reviews with activity in recent years, which suggests the OOS state is a temporary supply gap rather than a discontinuation. Check the listing or contact OTC through a Bosch tool distributor for current availability.
Why does the 1532A carry a Proposition 65 warning?▾
The Proposition 65 warning is standard for metal tool assemblies — it typically reflects trace regulated metals (lead is the most common trigger) in aluminum alloy or steel hydraulic components. The specific substance is not identified in the product listing. The warning does not affect the health score for a mechanical tool (health: 9.5), as there is no chemical exposure pathway in normal use.

Yeah, it's better than the cheapie ones.
I bought this jack to replace a jack that was lost at the racetrack when my friend's Porsche GT3 blew a coolant line. He left it there. It was one of those $129 Harbor Freight specials. So, having read reviews online about the OTC racing jack, I decided to give it a try and move up a notch. Having used it for a few weeks, I'm already 100% convinced that was the right answer. It works more smoothly, with no slop in the pump mechanism, it raises quickly up to engage the load then more slowly & precisely when lifting the load. Bleeding it is simpler, no messy bleed screws. And it has a lifetime warranty.I'm a believer now. No more cheapo car-store jacks for me. It's light, too, about 15 lbs. lighter than my friend's Harbor Freight aluminum racing jack. Unless you're down to your last $100, spring for the OTC.
