CarCareTruth's Analysis
Last reviewed May 28, 2026
TL;DR 540 GSM dual-pile microfiber with silk-banded satin-style edges and a 28"x36" format. Single-towel sedan capacity confirmed across multiple community reports, and one forum-verified dark-paint test at 12 washes with no marring found.
What it is and how it performs
A 540 GSM dual-pile microfiber towel with one plush face and one ultra-plush face, bordered on all four edges by a silk-banded satin-style strip. Adam's discloses the GSM on the listing image, and the construction is confirmed dual-sided from the same image. The 516-review corpus at 4.7 stars shows no documented marring pattern. One independent dark-paint confirmation was found: a Camaro5 forum reviewer used the towel on a 2012 Camaro SS for 12 washes, inspected under a swirl finder, and reported zero marring. A second dark-paint source was not found, which holds the scratch-safety score conservatively below the top tier. Absorbency is a genuine strength: multiple reviewers confirm single-towel sedan drying, and Adam's own copy says one towel handles a fullsize sedan with two recommended for large trucks or SUVs. Community reports are consistent with that framing.
Who should buy this — and who should skip it
Weekly-wash owners who want a single premium drying towel that handles a sedan or compact SUV without swapping mid-job. The silk-banded edges and 540 GSM construction put it above category-baseline commodity towels at a mid-range price. Skip for freshly corrected or single-stage paint where silk-tagless or edgeless construction with two or more independent dark-paint forum confirmations matters. The Chemical Guys Woolly Mammoth is the documented mid-premium alternative with a larger evidence base, though its specs should be verified before comparison.
Durability and care
One confirmed reviewer documented consistent performance after 12 washes with no pile degradation or absorbency drop. No early-failure pattern appears across the 516-review corpus, though no 50-plus wash-cycle independent follow-up was found. Machine wash in cool to lukewarm water with liquid detergent, tumble dry low, and avoid bleach, fabric softener, and dryer sheets entirely. Machine washing any polyester/polyamide microfiber releases synthetic fiber particles into wastewater; a laundry filter bag reduces that release.
Frequently asked questions
What size is the Adam's Ultra Plush Drying Towel?▾
The Amazon product specifications field and dimension diagram both list 36"L x 28"W. Some marketing bullets on the listing say 29" x 36", and the manufacturer site has referenced both figures in different contexts. The specifications field and the dimension diagram image are the most precise sources; 28" x 36" is the figure used here.
What is the GSM of the Adam's Ultra Plush Drying Towel?▾
540 GSM, confirmed from the Amazon listing image caption (image showing the dual-sided pile construction). This is mid-to-premium range for drying towels; premium benchmarks run 600-900 GSM.
Can one Adam's Ultra Plush towel dry an entire car?▾
Multiple community reviewers confirm single-towel sedan drying, including at least one reviewer who went from 6-7 towels per wash to just one. For a full-size pickup or large SUV, two towels are commonly reported. Adam's own copy says one towel handles a fullsize sedan and recommends two for large trucks or SUVs.
Is the edge construction safe for corrected or dark paint?▾
The border is a silk-banded satin-style binding, not a standard machine-sewn polyester thread edge. One independent forum reviewer (Camaro5) reported edge-safe use on a 2012 Camaro SS over 12 washes with no marring detected. A second independent source confirming edge-safe performance on dark or corrected paint has not been found.
Does the Adam's Ultra Plush have a Prop 65 warning?▾
No. The Amazon listing does not carry a Proposition 65 warning, and the Rainforest API data confirms proposition_65_warning: false. Back-of-packaging not independently verified from a physical product image.

Great towels
These towels really absorb the water when drying my car.I first saw them at Corvettes at Carlisle last year, 2017, and ordered them on the spot. I've been using them ever since. They dry the car quickly, leave no streaks, and really hold the water, although they must be wrung out during the drying process. On some drying sessions, I can do the entire car, Corvette, with one towel, sometimes it takes two; don't know why the difference, it's just the way it is.The only complaint I have is the cost. These are just microfiber towels and there is no reason for them to cost upwards of $35.00 per towel. I even tried finding an equivalent towel from another well known supplier, but I still come back to these from Adams's.This review is for the second order; three towels per order. Since I may not wash my towels soon after detailing my car, I need some spares. You may scream OUCH!!! and grab your heart when you pay for these things, but you will not be disappointed.
