Lubricating oils (petroleum), C15-50, hydrotreated neutral oil-based
- Base oils
- CAS mixture
CarCareTruth tracks Lubricating oils (petroleum), C15-50, hydrotreated neutral oil-based (CAS mixture) as a car-care ingredient.
Hydrotreated neutral petroleum base oil; C15-50 fraction. High kinematic viscosity typically waives H304 aspiration hazard at mixture level under CLP viscosity exemption (>20.5 mm2/s at 40°C). Low acute toxicity. No skin sensitization or respiratory sensitization classification. May cause mild irritation from prolonged skin contact (drying, defatting).
Hydrotreated neutral oil-based petroleum lubricant fraction with a C15-50 carbon chain range. This is the heavier base-oil component in petroleum lubricant aerosol formulations — after the lighter volatile carrier (naphtha, heptane, light distillates) evaporates following application, this fraction remains on the surface providing the residual lubricating film and corrosion-inhibitor delivery vehicle.
The C15-50 carbon range encompasses typical Group I and Group II petroleum base stocks produced by severe hydrotreatment to remove aromatic compounds. The high kinematic viscosity of these fractions (typically > 20 mm²/s at 40°C) generally qualifies them for the CLP viscosity exemption that waives H304 (aspiration hazard) from mixture-level GHS classification, unlike the lighter C7-C12 distillate fractions in the same formulation. Not readily biodegradable. Low aquatic toxicity at product-use concentrations.
