Benzenesulfonic acid, mono-C16-24-alkyl derivatives, calcium salts (CAS 70024-69-0) is an overbased calcium sulfonate belonging to the long-chain petroleum sulfonate family. In calcium sulfonate anti-seize and grease formulations it functions as a corrosion inhibitor and overbasing agent, providing the alkaline reserve (total base number) that neutralizes acidic corrosion products on metal fastener surfaces. The C16-24 alkyl chain length gives it good oil compatibility and contributes to the paste's thermal stability in high-temperature service environments.

As a member of the petroleum alkylbenzene sulfonate class, this ingredient is associated with mild skin sensitization potential at mixture level (H317). The sensitization pathway reflects cumulative occupational exposure risk from the sulfonate class rather than acute hazard from a single application. At 1-5% concentration in a petroleum-grease anti-seize paste the per-contact dose is low; wash-after-use is the appropriate precaution.

Not readily biodegradable due to the long-chain calcium sulfonate structure. The low water solubility of the C16-24 chain limits aquatic release potential from anti-seize applied to vehicle fasteners under typical service conditions.
