Safety Seal (a North Shore Holdings brand) is the original manufacturer of self-vulcanizing tire plug repair kits. Founded in the early 1960s, the brand pioneered on-the-wheel string-type plug repair and remains the professional installer's reference point for the category. Kits are made in the USA with knurled stainless steel tools. The brand's plug strips — built around a 24-ply nylon yarn core with a 250% rubber-to-yarn ratio — are self-vulcanizing by design, eliminating the rubber cement dependency that plagues budget kits. The product line covers passenger and light truck tires (Auto/LT series) and full truck/commercial tires (Truck series). Plug strip refills are sold separately, making the stainless steel tools a permanent investment.
