Ozium Air Sanitizer was developed in the 1940s as a glycol-based airborne disinfectant for use in hospitals — the active ingredients (triethylene glycol and propylene glycol) were chosen because vaporized glycol reduces airborne bacterial counts in enclosed rooms. The product migrated into consumer use as a smoke and odor eliminator in cars, offices, and homes.
The current OZIUM Holdings consumer formula is an EPA-registered air sanitizer (EPA Reg. No. 51838-2) sold in aerosol cans of 0.8 oz (single-shot) and 8 oz (multi-use). The bulk of the can is propellant and IPA carrier; the glycol actives sit at 4.4% each on the label disclosure. Ozium's reputation for fast odor reduction in enclosed cabins is real but transient — the propellant and IPA carry the fragrance and glycol mist, then the smell returns once the mist settles and ventilates out.
Niteo Products acquired Ozium and now manages the brand from Dallas, TX.
