Oil Eater is the flagship cleaner-degreaser line from Kafko International, a Skokie, Illinois manufacturer that has sold the concentrate since the early 1990s. The pitch has stayed consistent for three decades: a water-based, non-corrosive, biodegradable alkaline degreaser that cuts grease without the petroleum solvents, acids, or caustic burn of traditional heavy-duty products. The Original formula is authorized under FDA food-facility categories (A1, A4, A8), which is a meaningful signal: it means the chemistry is mild enough for use around food-processing equipment.

For car-care buyers, Oil Eater sits in the "safer heavy-duty" corner of the degreaser category alongside products like Purple Power and Simple Green: strong enough for engine bays, wheels, and shop floors at concentrate dilutions, but formulated to be gentler on skin, rubber, and the environment than solvent-based strippers.
