Hoover is one of the most recognized names in floor care. Founded in 1908 in North Canton, Ohio — where the first upright vacuum cleaner was commercialized — the brand built a century-long reputation on home cleaning equipment before expanding into cleaning chemicals, accessories, and car-care solutions. The Hoover name became so synonymous with vacuum cleaners in the UK that "hoovering" entered the language as a verb. Today Hoover is owned by Techtronic Industries (TTI), a Hong Kong-based conglomerate that also holds the Milwaukee Tool, Ryobi, and Oreck brands. TTI acquired Hoover's North American floor-care business from Whirlpool in 2007. The brand's cleaning-solution line — including CleanPlus, PetPlus, and several concentrates — is formulated to pair specifically with Hoover machines, though the company markets the solutions as compatible with competing extractors from Bissell and Rug Doctor as well.
