Break-Free has been producing synthetic CLP lubricants since 1975, starting with a formula developed for the U.S. military. The brand's CLP became the standard-issue firearm lubricant for multiple branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and is on the U.S. government qualified products list for MIL-PRF-63460F. Break-Free is now owned by Safariland, LLC, a Jacksonville, Florida-based defense and law enforcement equipment company. The product line has expanded beyond the original CLP to include bore solvent, cleaner, and precision oils, but the CLP remains the flagship.
