Akebono Brake Industry Co., Ltd. is a Japanese braking-systems manufacturer founded in 1929 and headquartered in Tokyo. It is one of the world's larger independent brake suppliers, producing friction material, disc brake pads, calipers, and drum brakes as original equipment for a broad set of Japanese and North American automakers — including Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, and General Motors.

In the aftermarket, Akebono is best known for its ceramic pad families — the ProACT and Ultra-Premium Ceramic lines — which package the same ceramic friction technology the company supplies as OE.
