Volkswagen GTI Mk6 (5K)

Mk6 GTI is a heavily refreshed Mk5 — same PQ35 platform underneath, but better interior quality, sharper styling, and incremental engine refinement. 2.0T at 200 hp. Mk6 Golf R (2012-2013 in NA) is the high-performance variant. Widely regarded as the most reliable modern GTI generation.

Watch out: Early Mk6 cars still subject to 2.0T TSI timing-chain tensioner issue (later revised). Carbon buildup at 60k-100k miles. Water pump (plastic impeller) is a 60k-mile expected replacement. DSG fluid service mandatory.
