Toyota Land Cruiser J80

1990–1997 · J80 · suv

Eighth-generation Land Cruiser — full-time 4WD with center-locking diff, solid axles front and rear, coil-sprung. US engines were the 3F-E (1991-92) and the 1FZ-FE 4.5L inline-six (1993-97). Last solid-front-axle US Land Cruiser before the IFS J100 took over.

Watch out: 1FZ-FE head gasket weeping (and full failures) is the headline mechanical concern at high mileage. Birfield joints in the front axle wear with poor 4WD service intervals. Rust around the rear quarter panels and frame on Northeast/Midwest examples.
