Sixth-generation Land Cruiser — the FJ60 (1981-87, 2F carbureted I6) and FJ62 (1988-90, 3F-E fuel-injected I6, 4-speed auto). Leaf springs front and rear, part-time 4WD with manual hubs. The first Land Cruiser with creature comforts that still feels mechanical.
Watch out: Frame rust on coastal/rust-belt examples is the make-or-break inspection. 2F carbureted engines in the FJ60 are pulled apart by ethanol fuel; 3F-E injected FJ62 fares better. Rear axle housing leaks at the third member are common at high mileage.
