The XV50 dropped the troubled 2AZ-FE for the new 2.5L 2AR-FE (178hp, designed without the head-bolt and oil-consumption issues of the 2AZ). 3.5L 2GR-FE V6 carries over (268hp). Hybrid moves to 2.5L 2AR-FXE (200hp combined). 6-speed automatic across the board (no more 5-speed). Entune infotainment debuted here.

Watch out: Power steering rack noise — 2012-2014 cars develop a clunk/whine from the EPS column-mounted motor. Owner reports of column-assembly replacement under extended warranty; out-of-warranty repair is ~$800-$1,200.
