Toyota Avalon 4th Generation (XX40)

2013–2018 · XX40 · sedan

The 4th-gen Avalon shared its platform with the XV50 Camry and was built in Georgetown, Kentucky. Powertrain was the 3.5L 2GR-FE V6 paired with a 6-speed automatic. An Avalon Hybrid joined the lineup, pairing the 2.5L 2AR-FXE Atkinson-cycle four with Toyota's two-motor hybrid transaxle. Trims ran XLE, XLE Premium, XLE Touring, and Limited. Mid-cycle refresh for 2016.

Watch out: Owner reports of transmission hesitation and delayed engagement on the 6-speed automatic, particularly at low speeds and in stop-and-go traffic. Toyota issued technical service bulletins addressing transmission calibration on some model years; verify any service history for completed TSB work.
