Porsche 914 914 (1969-1976)

1969–1976 · convertible

VW-Porsche joint project. Mid-engine layout, removable Targa-style roof. 1.7L / 1.8L / 2.0L VW-sourced flat-four (914) or 2.0L Porsche flat-six (914/6, very rare, only 1969-1972). The 914/6 GT is a high-six-figure collector car; standard four-cylinder 914s remain attainable. Often cited as a precursor in design language to the modern Boxster.

Watch out: Rust is the dominant 914 issue — battery tray, longitudinals, hell hole behind the rear wheels. Pre-purchase rust inspection from underneath is non-negotiable. Mechanicals are generally simple, but parts for the 914/6 specifically can be expensive and hard to source.
