Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V B15

20022006 · B15 · sedan

Performance trim of the fifth-generation (B15) Sentra, sold in the US 2002-2006. 2.5L QR25DE I4 making around 175 hp, paired exclusively to a 6-speed manual. FWD with a helical limited-slip differential added on later (2004+) cars. Sibling to the lower-output SE-R. Note: this is the Spec V, distinct from the broader B15 Sentra lineup that ran 2000-2006.

Watch out: QR25DE precat failure is the most-cited driveability issue on early Spec V cars, where the upstream catalytic converter sheds material that gets ingested back through the cylinders and accelerates ring and bore wear. Owner reports of resulting oil consumption and low compression after precat failure are well-documented across forum and shop sources. Pre-purchase: pull spark plugs and inspect for unusual deposits, run a compression and leakdown test, and verify the precat has been deleted or replaced on any high-mileage car. Also check 2nd-gear synchro on the 6-speed manual.

Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
