Nissan GT-R R35
2009–2025 · R35 · coupe
R35 GT-R has been in production since 2007 (Japan) / 2009 (US) — over 17 years on the same chassis, the longest-running halo car generation in modern Japanese carmaking. 3.8L VR38DETT twin-turbo V6 hand-built at the Yokohama plant, ATTESA E-TS Pro AWD with a rear transaxle 6-speed dual-clutch (GR6) gearbox. Power went from 480hp (2009) to 565hp (2012) to 600hp+ on Nismo trims. Nismo, Track Edition, T-Spec, and 50th Anniversary special editions over the years. Tuned R35s in the 1,000+hp range are commonplace; the engine and AWD architecture both tolerate it.
Watch out: Launch-control wear on the GR6 transaxle (early cars), and Bilstein DampTronic damper rebuilds that Nissan quotes at $5,000-$10,000 a corner. Brake rotors and pads are also six-figure-curated parts — a full brake-job at the dealer runs $7,000+. Buy with eyes open on the running costs, not the sticker.
Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
