Mini Clubman 1st BMW Generation (R55)

2008–2014 · R55 · wagon

First-generation Clubman based on the R56 Mini platform. Quirky asymmetrical body: a small right-side rear-hinged 'club door' (only on the right side, even on right-hand-drive cars in some markets) and barn-door rear cargo opening. Same N12/N14/N18 Prince engines as R56 Cooper across base, Cooper S, and JCW trims. Final R55 Clubman was 2014.

Watch out: Same Prince engine issues as R56: N14 (2008-2010) timing-chain, HPFP, water-pump, carbon buildup. N18 (2011-2014) addressed most timing-chain issues. The asymmetric club door has unique seal and alignment wear over time. Otherwise a standard R-generation Mini ownership experience.
