Retractable hardtop roadster. M272 V6 (SLK280 / SLK300 / SLK350), M156 6.2L NA V8 in the SLK55 AMG (a 355-hp masterpiece). AIRSCARF heated-vent neck warmer was a standout feature. The SLK55 AMG R171 is a future collector — naturally-aspirated V8 in a small roadster body.

Watch out: M272 V6 balance shaft gear wear — the defining W211-era failure carries over here. Hardtop hydraulic-pump leaks and microswitch failures are recurring. SLK55: M156 head bolt corrosion (rare on R171 versus C63 sedan) and valve guide wear.
