Sold as Mercedes-AMG SL — built and engineered by AMG, replaces both the R231 SL and the original AMG GT Roadster. Soft top replaces the folding hardtop. 2+2 seating returns. M177 4.0L biturbo V8 (SL 55 / SL 63 / SL 63 S E Performance PHEV). AMG GT 4-Door siblings share the platform.

Watch out: Too new for a defining failure cluster. Forum complaints center on weight gain versus R231 and the move from hardtop to soft-top, not mechanical reliability. M177 V8 broadly considered very strong.
