Retractable hardtop grand-tourer roadster. M113 5.0L V8 (SL500), M113K 5.5L supercharged V8 in SL55 AMG (493/510 hp), M275 6.0L biturbo V12 in SL600 / SL65 AMG (604 hp), M285 V12 in the fixed-roof SL65 AMG Black Series (661 hp, 350 units). SBC brakes early (recall magnet) replaced with conventional hydraulics for the 2006 LCI.

Watch out: SBC (Sensotronic Brake Control) module on pre-2006 cars — failures triggered a major recall and out-of-warranty replacement is expensive. ABC (Active Body Control) suspension struts and pumps fail and aren't cheap. Roof-system hydraulic leaks are routine.
