Mazda MX-30 1st Gen
2022–2023 · DR · suv
Mazda's first US-sold all-electric vehicle. 35.5kWh battery, 143hp single front motor, FWD only. EPA range only 100 miles (Mazda argued this was lower-lifecycle-impact than a larger battery, which the EV community largely dismissed). Distinctive freestyle rear-hinged half-doors borrowed from the RX-8. Sold only in California in the US. Discontinued after the 2023 model year. Mazda exited the US BEV market while preparing the next-generation EV strategy.
Watch out: The range itself is the watch-item . 100 miles is below the practical floor for most US use cases, and the resale value reflects it. As a low-volume vehicle in the US, parts and dealer service expertise are limited. No major mechanical scandals; the powertrain is conventional EV hardware.
Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
