Mazda Mazda5 US Generations (CR / CW)

20062017 · CR/CW · van

The Mazda5 was a compact six-seat van with dual sliding rear doors, built on the Mazda3 platform. The first US generation (CR chassis, 2006-2010) used the 2.3L MZR; the second (CW chassis, 2012-2017) used the 2.5L MZR with a five-speed automatic. Five-speed and six-speed manuals were offered on the CR generation. A small, cult-favorite alternative to traditional minivans. There was no 2011 US model year between the CR and CW.

Watch out: Owner reports of rust on rear wheel arches and rocker panels on salt-belt cars (well documented on Mazda3-platform vehicles of this era), worn sliding-door rollers, and aging suspension bushings. CR cars can have water pump leaks at higher mileage.

Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
