Mazda CX-90 1st Gen
2024–2026 · KK · suv
Mazda's flagship three-row family crossover and the headliner for the new 'Large Architecture' longitudinal platform, a real departure from the transverse-engine FWD-based Mazdas before it. Engines: 3.3L Skyactiv-G e-Skyactiv I6 turbo with 48V mild-hybrid (280-340hp depending on tune) for the gas variant, or a 2.5L Skyactiv-G I4 PHEV powertrain (323hp combined, ~26 miles EV range). 8-speed multi-plate-clutch automatic (no torque converter). Standard AWD. Three rows, six/seven/eight passengers. Replaces the CX-9 in the lineup.
Watch out: First-year teething pains are real on the CX-90. The new 8-speed clutch-based transmission has documented harsh-engagement and shudder complaints; Mazda has issued multiple TSBs (verify recall/campaign status by VIN). The PHEV variant is new technology with no long-term failure history yet. The inline-6 itself is well-engineered but the supporting electronics and software are where early issues have shown up. Pre-purchase: pull the service history and CarFax aggressively.
Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
