Mazda B-Series Ranger-Based US Generations
1994–2009 · B2300/B3000/B4000 · truck
Starting with the 1994 model year, the US-market Mazda B-Series became a rebadged Ford Ranger built at the same Twin Cities Assembly Plant. Trim names mirrored engine displacement: B2300 (2.3L four), B3000 (3.0L Vulcan V6), and B4000 (4.0L V6). Same body, same drivetrains, same suspension, slightly different grilles and trim. Sold through model year 2009 in the US, then dropped when Ranger US production ended in 2011. Pre-1994 US B-Series cars were genuine Mazda designs.
Watch out: Because mechanicals are pure Ford Ranger, the same watchouts apply: 4.0L SOHC V6 timing chain guide failure on B4000 trucks, 3.0L Vulcan head gasket and intake manifold gasket weeping, and frame rust on salt-belt examples. Cab corner and bed rust around the wheel wells is common.
Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
