Folding-hardtop grand tourer with the 4.3L 3UZ-FE V8 (286-300 hp across the production run, ZF 6-speed automatic introduced for 2006). Famously panned by reviewers for soft handling and divisive styling — now appreciated as a comfortable, durable Lexus GT with strong reliability.

Watch out: Retractable-hardtop hydraulic pump and microswitch failures are the model-defining repair item — diagnosis is tedious, replacement parts pricey. 3UZ-FE V8 itself is exceptionally durable; no widespread internal issues. Watch for cracked rear window seals on the convertible top mechanism.
