Fifth-generation Discovery on the L462 platform — first Discovery with an aluminum monocoque body, dropping significant weight vs. LR4. 3.0L supercharged V6 / 2.0L Ingenium four-cylinder / 3.0L turbo I6 mild-hybrid (later) / 3.0L Td6 diesel. Three-row seating standard. Major styling change vs. LR4 — controversial offset rear license plate has been criticized continuously.

Watch out: Early L462 cars (2017-2019): air-suspension compressor, infotainment touchscreen freezes, and various electrical-system warranty campaigns. Ingenium 2.0L: oil-pump and coolant-system concerns on a subset of early cars. 3.0L SC V6 and (later) I6 mild-hybrid: long-term durability is good, but specialist service is required as with all JLR products.
