Kia Optima JF (4th Generation)

Fourth-gen Optima carried the Schreyer design vocabulary forward, less daring than the TF but more refined inside. US lineup: 2.4L Theta II GDI (185 hp), 1.6L Gamma turbo (178 hp) on the Optima EX, 2.0L Theta II turbo (245 hp) on the SX, plus the Optima Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid. Built in West Point, Georgia. Final Kia midsize sedan to use the Optima name; renamed K5 for 2021.

Watch out: REAL ISSUE: 2016-2018 Optimas with 2.4L and 2.0T Theta II engines are included in the rod-bearing failure recall pattern and the engine compartment fire risk recalls. 2019-2020 cars are largely out of the worst recall window but still benefit from a NHTSA VIN check before purchase.
