Infiniti M45 Y34
2003–2004 · Y34 · sedan
First-generation US Infiniti M, sold only as the 2003 and 2004 model years on the Japan-market Nissan Cedric/Gloria Y34 chassis. 4.5L VK45DE DOHC V8 (around 340 hp), paired to a 5-speed automatic. RWD. Sold in very low US volumes (a roughly two-year run) before being replaced by the all-new Y50 M for 2006. Often considered a 'Q45 lite' given the shared engine.
Watch out: Parts availability is the single hardest aspect of owning one today: the Y34 was a Japan-market chassis with a tiny US footprint, so Y34-specific body panels, trim, and lighting are scarce. Mechanical service is easier because the VK45DE V8 is shared with Q45 (F50) and FX45. Owner reports of HVAC blend-door actuator failures and aged interior plastics are universal. Pre-purchase: confirm a local specialist can source body and trim parts before buying, and budget for cosmetic and electronic deferred maintenance on any survivor.
Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
