Ford F-150 Lightning 1st Generation

20222026 · T3 · truck

All-electric F-150 on the Ford T3 platform (shared body/cab with the 14th-gen ICE F-150). Dual-motor AWD standard. Two battery options: Standard Range (98 kWh usable, ~240 mi range, 452hp) and Extended Range (131 kWh usable, ~320 mi range, 580hp). Both produce 775 lb-ft of torque. NACS port from 2025 (CCS via adapter on earlier trucks). Pro Power Onboard up to 9.6 kW for tool / appliance / house power. Built at Rouge Electric Vehicle Center, Dearborn.

Watch out: February 2023 production halt after a battery-pack fire during pre-delivery testing — Ford traced it to a single supplier cell defect and restarted production March 2023. 2022-2023 trucks had a documented 12V battery system / state-of-charge tracking issue causing 'bricked' lockouts that required dealer reset; NHTSA recall 23V-085 addressed firmware. Also a recall (23V-085 / 23V-094) for 12V high-voltage battery contactor faults. Range under heavy tow drops sharply — the Lightning is great for daily use but planning a long tow remains a known limitation.

Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
