Chevrolet S-10 2nd Generation (GMT400)

19942004 · GMT400 · truck

The second-gen S-10 launched for 1994 (1995 production for some configurations) on a redesigned chassis. Engines were the 2.2L LN2/L43 four-cylinder, the 4.3L Vortec V6 (L35 CPI, then later W-code central-port injection variants), and a brief Vortec 4300 high-output option. The ZR2 off-road package (1994-2003) was the wider-track, taller-suspension trail variant. Regular cab, extended cab, and an LS Crew Cab joined late (2001-2004). S-10 production ended in 2004; the Colorado replaced it for 2005.

Watch out: Frame rust on the rear of the cab and bed-mount areas is the defining long-term issue. Owner reports of fuel-pump failures, intake manifold gasket leaks on the 4.3L Vortec, and 4L60E transmission wear are well-documented.

Full clubhouse — owner Garage Lineage, common problems, year-by-year notes, and product picks — is on the build list.
