Chevrolet Impala 9th Generation

2006–2013 · W-body · sedan

Ninth-generation Impala on GM's long-running W-body platform. 3.5L LZE / 3.9L LZ8 pushrod V6s standard. The 2006-2009 Impala SS ran the transverse 5.3L LS4 V8 (303 hp, FWD) — the rare front-drive small-block-powered Chevy sedan. After 2013 the model continued as 'Impala Limited' for fleet sales through 2016 while the 10th gen took over retail.

Watch out: 3.5L / 3.9L LZ-series V6 intake manifold gaskets leak coolant (a chronic GM 60-degree V6 issue). 5.3L LS4 SS transmissions (4T65E-HD) struggle with the V8 torque on track-driven cars; trans coolers help.
