BMW X1 F48 (2nd Generation)

The F48 X1 is the second-generation X1, on sale in the US from 2016 through 2022. It moved to the BMW UKL2 transverse front-wheel-drive platform (shared with MINI Countryman and 2 Series Active Tourer), with optional xDrive all-wheel-drive. The US car used the B46/B48 turbocharged inline-four.
Watch out: Owner reports of timing chain noise on early B46/B48 units and oil filter housing gasket leaks are routine. The transverse FWD-based layout is a meaningful departure from previous BMW X1 character and draws mixed owner feedback.
