S63B44T4 4.4L twin-turbo V8, 600 hp / 617 in Competition / 627 in CS. First M5 with AWD (M xDrive), and the system still lets you switch to pure RWD for tail-out hooning. 8-speed ZF auto only — the manual is gone forever. The F90 CS is the spiritual peak of the generation.

Watch out: Carbon buildup on intake valves remains the recurring service item. Cooling system components (electric water pump, transfer pump) age faster than most owners expect. Worn rear differentials on launch-control-heavy cars.
