Pillarless 2+2 hardtop coupe with pop-up headlights — a clean-sheet flagship developed in the late '80s under heavy investment. 840Ci (M60/M62 V8), 850i / 850Ci / 850CSi (M70/S70 V12). Manual transmission rare on the V12 cars, especially the CSi (S70B56). Famously expensive to maintain even when new — even moreso now.

Watch out: Everything that can leak, will. Cooling system, power steering, fuel pressure regulators, brake servos. The V12 cars are two M5-era inline-sixes side by side — every service touches twice as many parts. Verify electronics function (heater core blend doors, headlight motors, OBC) before buying.
