Eighth-gen 5 Series. Combustion 530i (B48 turbo-4) and 540i xDrive (B58 turbo-6 with 48V mild hybrid) share the chassis with the all-electric i5 — same body shell, two powertrain stories. BMW Operating System 8.5 with curved display debuts. Larger than every prior 5; this generation finally crosses into proper executive-sedan footprint.

Watch out: Too new for a definitive watchout. Early reports center on OS 8.5 software niggles and the new touch-heavy interior rather than mechanical failures.
