First all-turbo 5 Series. N20 turbo-4 (528i), N55 turbo-6 (535i), N63 V8 (550i), and S63 V8 in the F10 M5. Electric power steering replaced hydraulic — enthusiasts split on whether it was the right move.

Watch out: N63 V8 (550i) — timing chain guides, valve stem seals, and high oil consumption are well documented; BMW issued multiple customer-care extensions. Also watch N20 timing chain stretch by 80k miles on 528i.
