First turbocharged 3 Series across the board. N20 (2.0L turbo I4) on the 328i and N55 (3.0L turbo I6) on the 335i replaced the N52 inline-six; the B58 arrived on the 340i for 2016. Electric power steering replaced hydraulic; enthusiasts mourn the loss of feel. Run-flat tires standard from factory.

Watch out: N20 timing chain failure on 2012-2015 cars, often by 80k miles. Listen for chain rattle on cold start.
