BMW 2 Series G42 (2nd Generation)

2022–2026 · G42 · coupe

Bigger than F22, on a chassis shared with the G20 3 Series. 230i (B48 turbo-4), M240i xDrive (B58 turbo-6). Coupe only — no convertible variant this generation. The G87 M2 is the M version on the same architecture. Polarizing rear-quarter styling (the 'cheekbones') but the chassis dynamics are widely praised.

Watch out: Too new for a definitive failure pattern. B-family engine known-issues apply: electric water pump and thermostat housing are the most likely 80-120k spend. The Mexico-built M240i has had scattered early-build quality complaints (panel gaps, trim) but no recurring mechanical story.
