Bentley Continental GT 1st Generation

2003–2011 · coupe

First Bentley developed entirely under VW Group ownership — VW D1 platform, 6.0L W12 twin-turbo making 552 hp (later 600 hp in the GT Speed), permanent AWD, 6-speed automatic. The car that quadrupled Bentley's production volume and made the brand viable. Continental GT coupe; Continental GTC convertible from 2006.

Watch out: Air-suspension failures (compressors and bags) are universal at higher mileage — expect $3K-$5K per repair episode. Tire wear is rapid due to vehicle weight (2.4 tons). W12 timing components and turbo accessory plumbing are expensive but durable. Brake rotor consumption is high under any spirited driving. Now genuinely affordable used — but cost of ownership has not come down to match.
