Audi S5 B8 (1st Generation)

2008–2017 · B8 · coupe

The B8 S5 launched in the US for the 2008 model year as a coupe with the BNS 4.2 FSI V8. Beginning with the 2010 cabriolet and the 2013 coupe facelift, the V8 was replaced by the 3.0 TFSI supercharged V6 (CGWA / CGXC) across S5 trims. Production ran through the 2017 model year for cabriolet.

Watch out: 4.2 FSI V8 timing chain tensioner wear and carbon buildup on intake valves are well-documented concerns on early B8 S5 coupes. On the supercharged 3.0 TFSI cars, owner reports of supercharger snout bearing wear, water pump life and intake-manifold flap motor failures are routine.
