Mid-engine, RWD, with a central carbon-fiber tub weighing just 143 pounds (65 kg). Aluminum subframes front and rear. Engine: a 1.75L turbocharged inline-four (240hp) sitting transversely behind the driver. 0-62 in 4.5 seconds, 160 mph top speed. Coupe produced 2013-2019, Spider 2015-2020. Manufactured by Maserati in Modena. About 9,117 units total worldwide. No power steering, no power assist of any kind — a deliberately raw driving experience.

Watch out: Six-speed TCT (Twin Clutch Transmission) dual-clutch is the only available gearbox and it's known for hesitation, harsh low-speed engagement, and the occasional mechatronic-unit failure. Engine accessibility is brutal (the carbon tub makes most service jobs a pull-the-clamshell affair). Heat soak in the cabin is real — the engine sits inches behind the firewall. Tires are extreme-staggered and expensive.
